End of Year 10 Project Assessment
This project assessment is in two parts:
- A detailed visual analysis in timed conditions of a particular photograph linked to the theme you are investigating
- A practical response to the image in question i.e. you will create a sequence of images inspired by the photograph you analysed in the timed conditions and write a brief evaluation
Assessment: Part 1
Picture Analysis
Click on the document related to your chosen theme. It will open in a new window at a larger size. Spend 5 minutes looking carefully at the picture without writing anything down. We recommend that you make a quick sketch of the basic composition of the picture - just a few lines, like a diagram to help you understand how the picture works.
Now, begin writing about the image using the prompts to help you. If something interesting occurs to you that's not related to the prompts, write it down. Everything interesting you write about the image will be credited. You can type or handwrite your response but, once you've finished, please add your essay to your website with a copy of the image it relates to. (The sources of the image are supplied as (blue) links at the top of each page). The writing should take you about an hour to complete. |
Assessment: Part 2
Create a series of images (at least 5) that respond to the image you've just written about. You will have a week to do this as part of your independent learning. You can respond to any aspect of the image that interests you. For example, it might be the composition of the image(s), the way objects have been framed, the use of colour/tone/contrast, a particular technique employed by the photographer, a specific subject etc. You could respond to the image(s) as a whole, or a specific detail. You might decide to edit or alter the pictures you take in some way or you may wish to keep them unedited. You can make them with any equipment you have available. You can use other media if appropriate - drawing, painting, collage etc.
Once you have made your images, please upload them to your website as a new Gallery (under the writing about the picture you have studied for Part 1 of the assessment).
Finally, write a brief evaluation (WWW/EBI). Try to make clear what interested you in the image you wrote about and how you have responded to it.
